GU One-Day Symposium on Teaching and Learning

Glasgow University's Learning and Teaching Centre would like to invite you to the above one-day symposium which will look at how we practice and evidence the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. Building on the success and feedback of the first Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Symposium in September 2005, the Learning and Teaching Centre have organised a day long conference to look at the issues of how we evidence scholarship and carry out practitioner based research around the scholarship of teaching and learning. One of the main issues highlighted in the feedback form last September was the need for a vehicle to share and disseminate scholarship. Consequently we have responded by establishing an e-journal - 'Practice and Evidence of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education' or PESTLHE for short. The launch of the first publication is timed for April 25th. Further details of this will be announced on the day.

The morning will provide an opportunity for some of the contributors to the first journal volume to discuss their work and share good practice within the University of Glasgow. This will be followed by an afternoon session examining how we engage with the issue of evidencing scholarship, led by Dr Glynis Cousins of the Higher Education Academy.

This symposium is aimed at all who have an interest in scholarship: Senior University Managers, Promotions Committees, University Teachers, Senior University Teachers, probationary staff on UT or SUT contracts, Heads of Departments, Associate Deans for Teaching and Learning and Senate Assessors.

This event is free for GU staff. For other HEI staff there will be a charge of £20.00
